Reviews & Impressions
Ragnarok: The New World doesn't have an aggregated critic score yet (its Metacritic page exists but was unpopulated at time of writing). Here's what hands-on coverage across its beta phases and regional launches has said so far.
Closed Beta (November 2025)
Early beta coverage described the game as feeling like an upgraded, graphically improved take on Gravity's previous Ragnarok mobile title, with the classic RO art style modernized in character models, effects, and environments. Testers specifically liked the more forgiving pacing — earning reduced EXP and card drops even after running out of allotted Battle Time, rather than being cut off entirely — along with light daily quests (typically under 30 minutes) and automated life-skill gathering.
Taiwan/Hong Kong/Macau Launch (January 2026)
Following its January 15, 2026 regional launch, Ragnarok: The New World reportedly reached #1 in both free downloads and top-grossing charts on the Apple App Store across all three markets, according to Gravity's own investor press release. Independent hands-on coverage from this launch specifically praised the character customization (especially fine-grained headgear color, size, and position controls), the open-world map, the offline auto-battle system, and the variety of daily content, while noting that finding a party for content could sometimes be difficult despite a convenient party system.
Southeast Asia Open Beta (July 2026)
A pre-launch review published ahead of the SEA Open Beta highlighted the seamless open world — traveling from Prontera's gates to Morroc's deserts and Geffen's mountains without loading screens — and the restoration of the franchise's classic 193 ASPD attack-speed cap as a nostalgic touch for veteran players. Steam community discussion around the July 16 OBT launch showed a mix of enthusiasm (positive comments on graphics, music, and controls) and some initial skepticism that softened once players tried the official PC client directly.
Our Take
As an unofficial fan guide, we're not publishing our own review score. What we can say plainly: this is a genuinely new build of Ragnarok rather than a reskin, it launched in stages by region, and its two clearest standout systems so far — Job Freedom (free class-switching) and safe +15 refining — are the ones every wave of hands-on coverage keeps coming back to. We'll keep this page updated as more post-launch reviews land.
